Care of the Sick
Those in Nursing Homes &
Shut-ins

Purpose:
To care for the spiritual needs of our sick and shut-ins in the hospital, convalescent homes and private homes by visiting and taking Communion to them.

Membership:
At present, 16-18 ministers. Our goal is to recruit 12 more ministers.

Meetings:
Once a year Holy Hour or Evening of Prayer and Reflection for those in Ministry. Invite those involved as 'Prayer Partners' as well.


Activities:

  • Hospital Care
    1. Visit and bring Communion to Catholic patients every other week, including Sundays.
    2. Visit and bring Communion to patients of St. Joseph Parish while in the hospital.
    3. Have names of patients listed for prayers and bulletins in the bulletin.

     


  • Convalescent Homes
    1. Eucharistic Ministers will bring Communion to Catholic patients once a week in three large nursing homes: Adrian Health Care, Lynwood Manor, and Provincial House
    2. Arrange for Mass to be celebrated in each facility at least once a month.

     

  • Private Homes
    1. Take Communion to homebound or shut-ins as often as possible.
    2. Arrange for Mass of Anointing of the Sick for all shut-ins once a year.
    3. Call to set times for visits.
