MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Men's Faith Sharing Group at St. Joseph's is to
provide a forum for men to advance in their personal growth as husbands and
fathers, and in their relationship with and their love for our Lord Jesus
Christ through fellowship with other men in the parish and community.
Men that belong to a Men's Faith
Sharing Group believe that:
- They have one thing in
common - they realize that they can't do it alone and care enough to
seek each others guidance. Don't fool yourself - you can't do it alone.
- They take their faith
beyond Sunday and into the week - they believe that God is alive and His
Holy Spirit will guide them.
- They meet on a regular
basis, with men just like themselves, under a confidential creed that
creates a safe haven.
- They invite the Holy
Spirit to guide them and keep their lives centered on what really
matters.
- They talk about things
that are common amongst all men.
- Most important - they
hold each other accountable for change.
WIVES - Do some of these phrases sound familiar?
- He doesn't talk to me
about his day
- He's quick with his
temper
- He's forgotten how to
have fun
- He thinks that work is
more important than family
- He doesn't feel like
he should share in the work around the house
- He's lost respect for
my opinion
HUSBANDS - Do some of these phrases sound familiar?
- Relating to your wife
kind of slipped away
- You don't realize that
you're angry - but you are
- You don't have time to
play with the kid's - life is too serious
- Nobody understands the
pressures I feel at work
- I HEAR my wife when
she talks - but I don't always LISTEN
MEN - Here's the reality of how we are, whether we want to admit it to
ourselves or not.
- Men don't talk -
unless they have a safe haven
- Men sometimes stray
from the things they used to value
- Men change - but not
always for the better
- Men do get wiser and
better - but they don't always know how to channel these changes
You are invited to find out how
getting to know other Christian men can work God's miracles in your life. No
obligations - Trial runs are encouraged.
Ask your wife - How would she
rate you as a husband, father and friend? All in one package - 10 you're
amazing, 1 you're a trade-in. Any thing less than 8 and that's your cue to
come talk to us.
Ask yourself - How am I feeling in my
daily walk with Christ? If you're wondering what it means to really pray and
know how God is working in your life, that's another cue to come talk with us.
