It is a two-year program. The child must attend one full year of religious education prior to their year of preparation for first reception of the Eucharist.
The children need to be attending the formal religious education classes and special preparation sessions which include the child's parents
The Solemn Communal Celebration of first Reception of the Eucharist takes place in May.

Parents need to have a copy of their child's baptismal certificate to present to the DRE. Copies from the original can be made at the Parish Office.
The celebration of first reception of the Eucharist is usually for children in the 2nd grade who have receive the sacrament of Reconciliation. Each child must have attended the previous year of Faith First(Religious Education) and be presently attending the sessions with good attendance.
- Enrollment and presentation of the children preparing for their first reception of the Eucharist will take place at a 5:00 p.m. weekend liturgy.
- There are three (3) Parent/Child sessions.
- There is one Saturday morning Liturgy for the Parent and child.
- There is a Saturday morning mini-retreat for the children. There is a fee of $15 to cover the cost of materials, especially during the retreat.
- Celebration of the first reception of the Eucharist takes place the first weekend of May. Families may choose at which Liturgy they would like to celebrate this sacrament.
- Any child (3rd - 8th grade) who would like to
celebrate this sacrament is welcome.
